The Dower House is an exceptional residential nursing home near Winchester, Hampshire. We take pride in providing the highest quality of residential care in a practical, discreet and civilised environment. The wellbeing of our residents comes first.

Set in attractive grounds, our Hampshire home engenders the feeling of a country house hotel, with a high ratio of staff-to-residents, and where comfort and privacy are afforded at all times.

Residents are encouraged to regard The Dower House as their home whilst they are with us. They are welcome to bring personal furnishings, and can come and go whenever they please. We also welcome family and friends (and their dogs).

The Dower House residential nursing home combines practical design with state-of-the art baths and hoists. Should our residents require extra care, then we provide specialist nursing beds. We have four short-stay rooms enabling us to offer post-operative nursing care or holidays for those who would like to spend time in the country. Post-operative residents can take advantage of our full-time physiotherapist.

Established by Mrs Judith Lywood in 1989, The Dower House is set in over five acres of attractive grounds, offering the finest quality nursing care in beautiful semi-rural surroundings. We aim to provide a safe environment for our residents while maintaining a sense of freedom and personal choice.

For us, the key word is “home”. This is where our residents live, so a high degree of privacy and individualism is essential. At the same time we aim to provide the highest quality care, discreetly and respectfully. The management team endeavour to consult the residents on all decisions that affect them.

At The Dower House we feel it is important to keep reinvesting in the business. As their physical environment is of high importance for our residents’ wellbeing, there is a permanent programme of updating the property and facilities.
