Our aim at Sambrook House is to create a warm, homely and comfortable environment in which to live. A choice of food is offered at all meal times and is prepared daily from fresh produce. For residents who wish to participate, regular entertainments and outings are organised. We never forget that this is our residents’ home and so encourage individuality and freedom of choice. Relatives are always welcome and encouraged to get involved in the activities taking place in the home.
If you are considering residential care or respite care for yourself or a loved one, then please contact us or better, come and visit us (no appointment necessary!)
Our registration is that of ‘Residential Care Home’ and as such we do not provide ‘nursing care’, ie we employ qualified carers to look after our residents and not nurses. That said, we are able to provide care for frail elderly with mild dementia as well as palliative care for our residents – often with the support of the local Doctors and District Nurses.
Everyone that comes into Sambrook House Residential Home goes through an assessment process. This is a two way process and it is for us to assess the individual’s needs and be sure that we can provide appropriate and effective care, and also for you to learn about us and ensure that this is somewhere where your loved one may want to live.
Our basic criteria can be defined as;
‘Weight bearing’: Able to stand a take a few steps with whatever aid they need
If there is dementia then: – not a danger to themselves or a danger or disruptive to others
No ailments: That require constant nursing intervention or monitoring
Sambrook House is a peaceful and tranquil home where people have the freedom (and indeed are encouraged) to do what they want.
We encourage family involvement in the ‘care of their loved one’. Just because someone comes into a care home environment does not mean that they have to become cut off from the rest of the world!
We hope that you will be able to feel that you can leave us to do the ‘care’ and that you can get on with having quality time with your loved one!
