Birchfield Care Home, Blackburn, is a family run home and we endeavour to always provide that extra ‘personal’ touch to make our Home as friendly and welcoming as possible whilst providing the highest possible standard of care and cleanliness within its calm and luxurious surroundings.
The property dates back to the 1890s and was originally two residential properties; The Willows, which was a vicarage, and Wellfield.
The sympathetic conversion in 1987 to a Care Home has meant that the building has retained most of its original features and all of its character and charm.
Birchfield is set in its own grounds and is surrounded by beautiful, towering trees thus affording it a very private aspect.
The Home is situated in a highly sought after residential area of Blackburn, Lancashire, near to Witton Country Park and within easy reach of Blackburn town centre and the local amenities.

Care
We have a very experienced Registered Manager in Mary Noone who oversees our team of seniors, carer, catering and domestic staff. All shifts are supervised by a Senior Carer and our dedicated care staff are all qualified to NVQ level 2 or higher. Our experienced domestic staff ensure that the Home’s high standard of cleanliness is maintained to a consistently high standard.
We pride ourselves on providing and encouraging our staff to undertake further training to ensure they are kept up to date and refreshed with the latest information thus maintaining the highest standards of care for our residents at all times.
Residents are encouraged to remain independent but are also fully supported in their choices. Occasions are regularly provided for residents to go on trips and take part in activites within the home. We welcome friends and families into the home whenever and encourage their participation in activities and events.
Day Care
We can also offer opportunities to those who wish to join us during the day time only. We provide a supported environment to allow individuals to socialise and take part in activities whilst in our safe and comfortable surroundings.
Respite Care
Birchfield offers respite care for whether for a few nights or a few weeks. We have a dedicated respite room to ensure availability when you need it most. If you provide care for a loved one and require some short-term support whilst you take a well earned break, go on holiday, recovering after a hospital visit or for any other reasons, then please contact Birchfield to make a reservation.
