“At Pinhay House, our aim is to provide ‘your home from home by the sea’. We encourage you to bring your own furniture with you when you join us, together with your small pet.

We’re sure that you will love our beautiful home and gardens. We invite you to contact us directly to have a chat or to arrange a visit.”

Hollywood & History

Pinhay House has a fascinating history; it features prominently in the 1980s film ‘The French Lieutenant’s Woman’, starring Meryl Streep and Jeremy Irons. Are we the only care home that has ever starred in a Hollywood movie?

We are proud of our lovely house, the dedication of our staff and the high quality of care that we provide.  The Care Quality Commission regularly monitors Pinhay’s performance, and reports on us independently.

Enjoy something energetic, or simply relax and chat

Pinhay House offers an extensive range of activities for our residents.  These are organised and run by our specialist Activities’ Team, with a programme of activities available 7 days a week. Our team spends time with residents, playing cards, board games, skittles, letter writing or simply just chatting.  Sometimes these are group activities, but we also spend one-on-one time with our residents, to ensure that our less socially-confident residents are also included.  We offer specially tailored exercise classes for our more able-bodied residents.

Making the most of your stay

We are fortunate that Pinhay House is set in three acres of landscaped gardens, with stunning sea views.  We encourage residents to enjoy our lovely location as much as possible, and we have a large South-facing terrace where residents can relax and take tea, or engage in something more energetic such as tending the planters that we have placed there. We supplement these activities by regular visits from service providers and entertainers to Pinhay.  These vary from ‘services’ such as hairdressers and reflexologists, through to entertainers such as musicians, local school choirs and interactive art sessions.

Pinhay House is situated in one of the most beautiful parts of the country.  We organise regular trips into nearby Lyme Regis (often described as ‘the Pearl of Dorset’), where we might have tea or enjoy an ice cream by the beach.  Trips further afield might be to one of the lively seaside villages and towns we have within striking distance, or to a National Trust property.

We organise a number special events at Pinhay for residents and their families.  These include a Summertime hog-roast, an autumn fayre and a Christmas tea party.
